THE
NEIGHBORHOOD is a friendly, quiet area about 3 miles from the state Capitol, but it feels almost rural. It
is two blocks from hiking, biking and horseback riding trails through
undeveloped foothill areas. There are pastures around, and it is about
5 blocks north of where the sidewalk ends. Yet we are in easy walking distance of two parks, only 1 mile from
major grocery stores and 5 minutes (by car) from downtown. We think it is pretty
much the best part of Boise. The large trees make it shady in the summer,
and combined with the irrigation, it is 5 to 10 degrees cooler than
other parts of the city. In addition to dogs and cats, our neighbors
include horses, cows, raccoons, foxes, screech
owls, great horned owls, bats, red tail hawks and ducks that live in
or regularly visit the neighborhood.
The
neighborhood has little traffic and is really safe and quiet. Most homes are owner-occupied. It is
one mile from Lowell School and about 2 miles to North Junior High and
Boise High School. We have recently gained several families with younger kids and though several new single family homes have been built here over the last
few years, the street has retained its relaxed rural feel.
THE
HOUSE has been refurbished inside and out. Hot water is provided by a demand (tankless) gas water heater - as efficient as you can get. There is carpet
in the diningroom, the two bedrooms, the study, and the entry alcove.
The front entry, kitchen and bath have floor tile, and there is
a marble shower/tub surround in the bathroom. The livingroom has a hardwood
floor. The kitchen has a stainless prep table, pot rack, and lots of storage. The house includes all appliances: gas range, microwave, dishwasher, washer and dryer.
It is heated by a gas forced air furnace.
THE FENCED YARD is large and shady with mature trees and a sunny garden spot. Irrigation water is provided for watering.
The neighborhood has large lots and horses graze in pastures nearby.
If you enjoy gardening, there is more garden space available next to
the closest pasture. A well behaved dog is welcome with an extra
deposit. No smoking or cats are permitted. There is off-street parking next to the house.
